To be an Iranian artist is not a simple thing, not because we lack the elements to make us great ones, but because being an artist in Iranian culture is conventionally looked down upon as it doesn't add to status or traditional notions of monetary success. Our parents moved here escaping revolution so we could be doctors and lawyers and live a comfortable life. We got here, never fully felt connected to American culture or Iranian culture because we were always equally inbetween, and we were presented with so many possibilities and avenues which never existed for our parents. What did we do? Most of us listened to our families and became doctors, and a few of us turned into the black sheep of our families and did what we thought we were born to do. I'm always seeking out those few, it makes my world make a little more sense.
Here's some work from
Sara Rahbar who works between New York and Iran as an artist on many levels. Big ups.

To our folks from both sides, we hope to make you proud in everything we do.
